Milla Brown is a legal researcher specialising in technology law, with a strong academic background in data protection, AI governance, and regulatory compliance within the European Union. Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in International and European Law at the University of Groningen, Milla follows the Technology Law track, focusing on the intersection of law, innovation, and fundamental rights in the digital era.
Her bachelor’s thesis centered on the application of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) to the training and deployment of large language models, with a particular interest in the right to erasure (Article 17 GDPR) and its implications for AI development. Through her work, she examined how European data protection principles can be reconciled with technological progress, aiming to contribute to a future framework for responsible and ethical AI governance.
At the European Policy Institute in Skopje, Milla contributes to policy research and analysis concerning EU digital legislation, data governance, and the implications of the EU AI Act for candidate countries. Her work supports ongoing initiatives aimed at promoting legal harmonization, institutional capacity-building, and civic engagement in technology regulation, specifically for North Macedonia.
She is passionate about the responsible use of technology, advocating for privacy by design, algorithmic transparency, and human-centered innovation.
